1. Be sure…KNOW! Make sure that this is something that you are willing to give up a lot for. KNOW that this is a passion that you want to fulfill and that it is true inside of you. KNOW that it is not even close to easy. Show business is one of the most hectic and difficult industries to succeed in. KNOW that you must be willing to take chances and make wise decisions at the same time. (The 3 KNOWS) This is a serious business and not a game, although you can have tremendous enjoyment in the work and pursuit of it. You must know and accept all of this.
2. Act as often as you can. Practice makes perfect!
3. Start reading publications for performing artists (like "Backstage" and "Showbusiness Weekly").
4. Read literature written by great acting teachers (Especially Stanislavski). Also see

6. Start researching schools and coaches so that you can find the right one to help you. Also see

8. Start going out on Auditions in order to get comfortable with them and to get work.
